District Launches Updated Student Code of Conduct

The school district has finalized an updated Student Code of Conduct ahead of the upcoming school year, and all families are encouraged to review the changes before September.

The updated document reflects feedback gathered from parents, students, staff, and school councils over the past year. Students Launch Community Garden

A hands-on learning project grows into a district-wide effort to give back.

This spring, Grade 8 students at Meadow Ridge School transformed an empty patch of grass into a thriving community garden that supports the local food bank.

What began as a science class project on sustainable agriculture quickly expanded into a cross-curricular initiative spanning math, design, environmental studies, and leadership. Students researched crop selection, built raised garden beds, developed watering schedules, and partnered with local volunteers to bring the project to life.

By early summer, the garden was producing fresh vegetables, including lettuce, carrots, potatoes, and beans. The first harvest yielded over 200 pounds of produce, all donated directly to families in need within the community.

“This project gave students a chance to see how their learning connects to real life,” said Principal Amanda Brooks. “They weren’t just studying sustainability — they were practicing it.”

In addition to supporting the food bank, the initiative has sparked conversations about food security, environmental responsibility, and civic engagement. Plans are already underway to expand the garden next year and involve additional grade levels.

The district continues to look for opportunities that combine academic learning with meaningful community impact — proving that when students are empowered, great things grow.
